JNBY, based in Hangzhou, China, is a contemporary/modern fashion
brand for women. The concept stores on Alberni Street and Granville Street
in Vancouver reflects of the brand's modern design into the elements of architectural of the store. Mike was involved on designing and drafting of
the project when he was working for FCH, Vancouver.
The industrial elements such as, polished lacquered hardwood floor from existing building, brick wall, linear hanging strings and springs, raw metal hanging racks and fixtures also reflects the clean look of the brand.
Fashion Designers, Nancy Jia and Shu Lam approached iD Design Consulting Ltd. to design their first retail store in North America. The fashion designers founded Adorarmi in 2013. The company name originates from the Italian word “adoro”, which means “adore me” reflecting Shu and Nancy’s attention to detail and fine craftsmanship. Shu Lam is a Vancouverite and wanted to open his first Adorarmi retail store in Vancouver.
When Shu and Nancy sat down with iD Design Consulting, they emphasize the importance of the owl in the logo in their minimalist branding. The owl symbolizes wisdom, vigilance and mystery. With that in mind, designers Jacqueline and Mike decided to use the outline of the owl to create a tunnel effect into the store. Each owl partition houses their creations. The entrance also has a small play area so that kids can have fun while their parents shop.
